Brother ADS-2600W review
The Brother ADS-2600W is a top-value business scanner. It provides USB, wired and wireless support, a colour touchscreen and a selection of direct-to-cloud scanning features for less than £500.
We tested it via Ethernet and found installation refreshingly easy. A discovery tool found the scanner, installed the software and set it up on the network.
The ADS-2600W’s software package provides a comprehensive range of document management features. It also has its own web interface, which is used to set up profiles for scanning to FTP servers and network shares. Documents can be scanned to email and there’s a 300-entry address book. Network settings are accessed from the web interface, and a wizard is provided for wireless setup. It’s also easy to configure manual or WPS-assisted wireless connections from the 3.7in touchscreen.
In either case, wired and wireless components cannot be active simultaneously.
Setting up access to cloud services is a cinch thanks to the Web Connect tool. We entered our Google Drive account details and it returned a unique code to enter into the touchscreen. This enables the Scan To Web option and permits documents to be sent directly to Google Drive. Access to cloud destinations can be PIN-protected for each account.
For the Scan To PC option, you register your PC with the scanner from the Windows device properties page. This, too, can be PIN-protected: once registered, the PC appears on the touchscreen.
Scan quality for business documents is fine at 300dpi. A4 colour photos were also handled well, and scan speeds matched Brother’s claims in our tests.
At this price, the ADS-2600W beats all comers: it has a wide range of scanning functions, great cloud support and it’s supremely easy to use, too.
